Dix Hills — Town of Huntington, Suffolk County

Home Automation & AV in Dix Hills, NY

Dix Hills is mostly larger lots and big family houses, many of them expanded or rebuilt over the years. That usually means a lower level that wants to become a theater, a lot of rooms that want music, and a renovation window that is the right time to run wire.

Local service

We design, install and service systems for homes and businesses throughout Dix Hills, from new installations to ongoing support.

Dix Hills sits just north of our Deer Park office, reached on local roads. It is one of the areas closest to our base, which makes follow-up visits straightforward to schedule.

01

Houses that keep growing

Much of Dix Hills was built out from the 1960s onward on lots that are generous by western Suffolk standards. A lot of those houses have since gained additions, finished basements and second-floor expansions, and many older homes have been replaced outright. Each round of work leaves the wiring a little more patchwork: a router in one corner, an extender in the addition, speakers that were never tied together.

The most useful thing we can do in that situation is give the house a proper backbone. A wired network with access points placed for the new floor plan, a central location for equipment, and cable paths to the rooms that will need them. Once that exists, whole-home audio, TVs and cameras become straightforward additions instead of separate projects.

Lower-level theaters and prewire

Finished lower levels are common here, and they make good home theaters: little outside light, a defined room, and space to keep the screen wall and seating in proportion. What makes or breaks one is planning before the drywall goes up, including speaker locations, a conduit to the projector or display, room for equipment and ventilation, and separation from the bedrooms above.

That is why so much of our Dix Hills work starts at the framing stage. For new construction and large renovations we prewire audio, network, display and camera locations, test every run, and document where it all goes, so the finished rooms are quiet and the system can grow later without opening walls.

Dix Hills Questions

Before framing is complete. Screen size, seating rows, speaker positions and the equipment location all affect where walls, soffits and outlets go. Bringing us in once the drywall is up usually means compromises or rework.

Usually a wired backbone with ceiling access points placed for the house as it is now, instead of more mesh units or extenders. We look at where the old router sits, how the additions connect and where cable can reasonably run, then design coverage around that.

Often, yes. Attic space above the second floor and an unfinished area below the first floor make many runs possible with small access holes. Where a ceiling is truly closed, we can plan around it or use wireless speakers in that one area.
