WiFi that reaches the whole property — North Shore estate

Challenge
A large waterfront estate needed reliable WiFi and cameras across lawns, a garage and a separate beach house — places a few indoor access points can't reach.
What we did · August–September 2023

Trenched and laid underground conduit to each outdoor device location, and ran fiber-optic cable between buildings. Mounted 10 Ruckus T750 outdoor access points across the grounds, with Ruckus R750 access points indoors.

Installed weatherproof, ventilated NEMA enclosures with cooling fans outdoors to house network switches in the field. Built the core network in a wall-mount rack in the garage: a UniFi Next-Generation Gateway Pro, a 10-gigabit aggregation switch and UniFi Enterprise PoE switches, with a separate network installed in the beach house.

Where it stands now
The property has since grown to 23 Ruckus access points and 15 network switches, supporting 40 Digital Watchdog cameras, including 6 PTZ cameras on poles.
Why it matters
On a large property, WiFi problems are rarely fixed by adding another extender. Coverage comes from planning where every access point goes, getting wired power and data to it, and protecting outdoor equipment from the weather.

One Crestron system for the whole house — South Shore home

Challenge
A family home with TVs in nearly every room, a theater and whole-house music needed one simple way to control all of it, plus a network fast enough to carry it.
What we did · January–April 2023

Built and wired the equipment rack in our shop, then delivered and installed it on site. Installed a Crestron 4-Series processor running Crestron Home, with a 16×16 DigitalMedia video switcher that sends any source to any TV, and DigitalMedia receivers behind the displays.

Installed Crestron NAX audio-over-IP: an 8-zone streaming amplifier and a 16-input network encoder for music in every zone. Gave the family Crestron touch-screen remotes for each room and 10-inch wall touch screens.

Wired and installed Ubiquiti access points and an enterprise PoE network, and finished all terminations in the network closet. Upgraded the alarm with new sensors, smoke/heat detectors and glass-break detectors. Worked through a weekly punch list for six weeks until every item was closed.

Why it matters
Crestron is only as good as its design and programming. One processor running everything means one app and one set of remotes, not a drawer full of them.

Lighting and shades planned from the studs — Suffolk County new build

Challenge
A new house is the one chance to get lighting control, shades, network and audio wiring right before the walls close. Fixing it later means opening finished walls.
What we did · Finished March 2025

Marked up the plans, made project and rack drawings, then prewired the whole house and basement before drywall, including a trough and pipe for future runs.

Installed a Lutron HomeWorks QSX lighting system: 2 processors, DIN-rail power panels with switching and phase-adaptive dimming modules, and 83 six-button HomeWorks keypads. Pulled shade wiring to the windows before drywall, then installed and programmed motorized Lutron shades.

Programmed the lighting loads and scenes, and adjusted every wall plate so the finished keypads sit straight. Added Josh.ai voice control with Josh Nano microphones in the rooms.

Labeled every wire and handed over a spreadsheet of every run, so any future technician can find any cable. Built the network: 15 UniFi U7 Pro access points indoors, 2 outdoors and UniFi Enterprise 48-port PoE switches.

Why it matters
In our experience, many lighting complaints in finished homes trace back to decisions made before the walls closed: where keypads go, what each button does, whether there's wire at the window for a shade. Settling those at the prewire stage is far easier than fixing them afterward.

Reading Our Project Work

01

How to read these photographs

The installation photographs on this page—racks, switching, cabling and rooms—are from our own work. We do not name private clients or publish their addresses, so residential photos are grouped by type of space rather than by location. Commercial and hospitality work is named where the business is comfortable being named. Where hotel exterior or interior images are used in the hospitality group, they are licensed illustrative images representing the property type, not photographs of our work at the named hotel, and are marked "Illustrative image". The current hotel project cards use our installation photography; captions identify photographs not taken at the named property.

The groups follow the way projects are actually built: rooms people see, such as theaters, living spaces and terraces, and the infrastructure behind them, such as equipment racks and cabling. Both matter. A theater only performs as well as the rack and cabling that feed it.

02

What to look for in finished work

When you compare integrators, photographs of finished rooms only tell part of the story. These details are worth asking about on any project, including ours:

  • Rack work: labelled cables, dressed bundles, ventilation and room to service equipment. See structured cabling.
  • Speaker and device placement that lines up with lighting and architecture rather than fighting it.
  • Displays mounted at comfortable heights with concealed wiring, and lifts that operate cleanly.
  • Outdoor work with cables in conduit, not direct-buried. See underground wiring and conduit.
  • Control interfaces that a guest could use without instruction.
03

Types of projects we take on

Residential work ranges from a single home theater or whole-home audio system to full new-build estates with Crestron automation, Lutron lighting, motorized shades, networks and cameras. Commercial work includes conference rooms, office cabling and networks, camera systems and building management for condominium buildings. Our marine work includes audio, video, networking and control aboard Sanlorenzo motor yachts in South Florida, described in the Sanlorenzo case study.

Many projects start smaller than they finish. A family might call about WiFi, then add cameras, then plan a theater during a later renovation. Because we document what we install, later phases connect cleanly to earlier ones.

04

Starting your own project

If something on this page resembles what you have in mind, the most useful next step is a conversation about the property and how it is used. Send drawings if you have them. We will explain what is realistic, what order to do it in, and how the work would be documented. Read about our process, browse by service area, or contact us directly.
