What happens after you get in touch
Your message goes to the team that covers your area: New York for Long Island, the Hamptons and Manhattan, and our South Florida team for Miami, Miami Beach, Bal Harbour, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Someone will reply to talk through the project, usually starting with a phone call. If the property is under construction, we will ask for drawings and the builder's schedule. If it is a finished home, we will ask what is working, what is not, and what you would like to add.
Most projects then move to a site visit. We walk the property, look at the existing wiring and equipment, and talk with the people who will use the system day to day. From there we prepare a scope and, for larger projects, drawings, so you can see what is proposed before work begins. Our process page explains each stage in detail.
Information that helps us prepare
You do not need all of this to reach out, but the more we know, the more useful the first conversation will be:
- The property's location and type: house, condominium, office, hotel or vessel.
- Whether it is new construction, a renovation or a finished space.
- Architectural, electrical or lighting drawings, if they exist.
- The builder's or designer's contact details and schedule, if a team is already in place.
- The rooms and systems you are thinking about: theater, audio, lighting, shades, WiFi, cameras or door entry.
- Any existing equipment you would like to keep.
Timing a technology project
On new construction, the best time to involve us is before the electrical drawings are finalised and well before insulation and drywall. Prewire has to be done while the walls are open, and equipment rooms need ventilation and power planned in advance. On renovations, the same applies to any rooms being opened up. In finished homes, much can still be done with careful routing, wireless keypads and existing pathways, and we will tell you plainly what is practical.
In South Florida condominium buildings, association approvals, insurance certificates and work-hour rules affect scheduling, so we build those into the timeline. In the Hamptons and other seasonal areas, many owners prefer work completed outside the summer months.
Service for existing systems
If you already have a system, installed by us or by someone else, we can help. We start by assessing what is there: equipment, wiring, network and programming. Often the most common problems, such as unreliable WiFi, unresponsive touch panels or audio that drops out, come down to the network, which is why we frequently begin with home network and WiFi improvements. For buildings, see building management.
